Being Kind To Yourself In Times Of Despair
For my whole life, I have seen myself as unworthy of love. The love that God has for me and the love that my whole family has for one another. Lately, I have been trying to be more in tune with myself and the things that I feel. I've come to see that I feel unworthy of love because I do not do my job as a Christian. I doubt that anyone could ever love me including God, and therefore, I do not love myself in the ways that I should. I hold expectations for myself, and if I do not reach them, I get down on myself. As you can imagine, this is not good at all for my self-esteem or my ideal wish of feeling secure.
So here's the deal! You are loved whether or not you think you are worthy of it, you are forgiven even if you do not find yourself worthy of forgiveness. You are one of a kind, and you were created because God knew that the world needed someone like you. You should never let anyone take the light out of you, or make you feel ashamed for believing in something that you cannot see. God has a plan for you, and even though you may not know what that is yet you should always stay hopeful and believe that you are in this world for a reason. Facing your fears and knowing that you are not alone, is the best thing anyone could ever really do and remember.
Having gratitude for the smaller things in life is a great place to start if you have a hard time seeing beauty in simplistic things. Being grateful for what God has blessed you with and provided you with is doing you a favor, by allowing the goodness of what seems to be a harsh world run though you. There is always going to be goodness in the world. Sometimes it may be harder to find, but that does not mean that it isn't there, it just means that the goodness you are searching for is extra special.
It can be hard when the people you surround yourself with are negative people, who do not believe in God. So one tip for the younger people reading this: Never doubt what your gut is telling you, You are stronger than you think! Don't ever let people tell you that God doesn't exist, because he does. God's goodness and love that he has for you is everlasting and never ending. Remember, once you start to desire and seek the Lord, You have already found him.
What a life we get to live.
Enjoy it,
Maggie
